The designer behind NVR NUDE, Kelsey Merkeley, is inspired by the exquisiteness in life’s simple, sensual pleasures and the subtle intentions inherent in the smallest moments and gestures. Deeply influenced by her glamorous and vibrant grandmother, who courageously expressed her individuality with layers of elegant jewelry, the collection is intended to empower the wearer. The pieces invite flirtatiousness through a sense of playful whimsy, and yet the impeccable level of craftsmanship showcases a reverence for design, materials and fabrication.

Raised in a bucolic, lakeside community in British Colombia, Kelsey grew up immersed in the beauty of nature. Her family celebrated the continuum of life, from simple to sophisticated, and curiosity was encouraged. Kelsey went on to study Anthropology and Metalsmithing, eventually immersing herself in learning about all facets of the jewelry industry and gaining hands on experience through prestigious appointments, commissions and projects. She is accomplished and heavily accredited, and she applies this well-honed eye for beauty and perfection into her NVR NUDE brand.

“NVR NUDE is elegantly timeless, yet modern – with a splash of signature quirk,” Kelsey says. “Our jewellery favours the fresh, cherishes the chic, and delights in the delicate. NVR NUDE is bold, unapologetic and powerful. Just like the women wearing it.”

In her pursuit of knowledge, Kelsey has traveled the globe, living in some of the most important jewelry hubs in the world, including Mumbai, Bangkok, London, Los Angeles and Florence. The first collection for the brand, Signature Stripes, pays tribute to Italy’s domed structures, arched bridges, and the stripe on stripe pattern so distinctive of Mediterranean beach life. Her work is handcrafted in Canada by expert craftspeople and utilizes only recycled metals and conflict-free diamonds.

Kelsey is currently located in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, and joins the JA New York community as an exhibitor in our New Designer Gallery (NDG).
