Weaving influences of Edwardian, Art Deco and Art Nouveau eras into her one-of-a-kind pieces, designer Kiersten Elizabeth is inspired by the romantic whimsy of Paris, London and Great Abaco in the Bahamas. She believes in the transcendental powers of fine jewelry, which she beautifully conveys in the thoughtful details she incorporates into her work. Mindful of all angles of her designs, she puts a special focus on the parts of a ring that are only visible to the wearer. Each piece of her jewelry is not just a beautiful accessory rather, it represents a memory, a moment, an accomplishment. “Nothing more than jewelry, especially when it’s something from a long time ago, helps you point to a period of time,” Elizabeth says. “It’s that kind of living memory that you keep with you and you pull out and you wear.”
Kiersten first began designing jewelry because she couldn’t find pieces in the market that met her exacting standards. This passion project became a creative outlet to counterbalance her high-powered career in health care IT. After a decade of receiving compliments on her jewelry from colleagues, as well as requests to design custom engagement rings, she finally decided to pursue jewelry making as a profession. Now a GIA Graduate Gemologist, Kiersten has amassed a lengthy roster of contacts within the industry, which provides her with the ability to source exquisite gemstones such as opal, Alexandrite, Colombian emeralds, Burmese rubies and Ceylon sapphires.
The Kiersten Elizabeth brand offers several instant-heirlooms collections, each infused with sentimentality. From her Chronology collection, which pays homage to the preciousness of time, to the Cherish collection, which incorporates fine art oil paintings in miniature form, her pieces are a reflection of love and intention. Kiersten also relishes sitting down with clients to develop bespoke jewelry. As she’s hearing about their vision and motivation for the design, she begins sketching, allowing the story behind the piece to dictate her creative process, weaving the narrative into the piece.
Based in Charleston, North Carolina, Kiersten will be debuting her collection at the JA New York Summer Show as an exhibitor in our New Designer Gallery (NDG).
