Located in The Bronx, NY, the NY Botanical Garden is arguably one of the most serene locations in all of the 5 boroughs. It has been the site of two separate installations by American glass sculpture, Dale Chihuly (as seen in pictures here), and it annually hosts black tie galas, including its famous Winter Wonderland black tie event. While the re-opening of most NYC museums has been delayed indefinitely, the Botanical Garden has been open with a few key restrictions.
Tickets are required for entry on a pre-determined schedule to ensure social distancing. Additionally, select indoor spaces like the Conservatory and the Children’s Adventure Garden are currently closed to visitors, but that simply allows people to discover other outdoor areas of the garden that they may not have explored in the past. The Botanical Garden boasts 250 acres of gardens, and is a Historic Landmark. Established in 1891, and intended to advance public understanding of plants, The Garden continues to be the site of research projects for institutions across the globe.
With all signs pointing to staying outside in the fresh air as the best way to stay safe and healthy right now, there’s no better time to head up to the Bronx to experience one of New York City’s most lush treasures!
