Since 1995, designer Darby Scott has been part of the global fashion conversation with her collections of clothing, handbags and jewelry. With a diverse fan following, including Madonna, Queen Noor, Rose Marie Bravo and Bette Midler, Darby continues to push the envelope on style and design.
JA New York: How would you describe your brand to someone who is not familiar with it? Give us your “elevator pitch!”
Darby Scott: “Things of quality have no fear of time”… A modern collection of Luxury accessories, jewelry and handbags that will stand the test of time.
JA New York: Do you have a particular wearer in mind when you are designing?
DS: Men and women who are discerning of fine craftmanship and refined details-not overt labels. And if they were alive today… Audrey Hepburn, Princess Grace Kelly, and Cary Grant!
JA New York: What is your biggest source of inspiration?
DS: Art, music, nature, color, life!
JA New York: What is the first thing you do when waking up?
DS: I rub my dog’s soft ears…
JA New York: What is the last thing you do?
DS: I rub my dogs soft ears…
JA New York: What was your biggest fashion faux pas?
DS: Shoulder pads in the 1980’s!
JA New York: Who was your favorite teacher (in school or in life)?
DS: My mother, she taught me to sew and paint and draw and inspried and encouraged my interest in design at a very young age.
JA New York: What is your guilty pleasure?
DS: Wine & Fancy Cheeses and Peanut M&M’s (not all together!)
