While I don’t have kids myself, anyone who knows me knows I have several nieces, nephews, cousins and god-kids that I am obsessed with! I also have a lot of friends and colleagues who have kids, so I’m ever mindful of how difficult it must be to be a working parent right now….with the kids sitting right next to you! To that end, as I work from home solo, I’m ever on the hunt for fun activities people can do with their kids, or that can at least distract their kids for enough time for you to get a few things done.
In a previous post, I mentioned my discovery of Cosmic Kids Yoga, as well as all of the amazing resources available for free on Scholastic.com. I continue to keep my ears (I’m a news radio and podcast person!) open for cute ideas, and below are a few I heard about recently that are definitely worth checking out:
Lincoln Center at Home: The Lincoln Center is offering an at-home portal to keep the visual arts front and center in your kids’ minds. The Lincoln Center Pop-Up Classroom features a variety of elite educators and artists teaching children how to channel their inner artists through a variety of different art forms with materials all found at home! You can tune in every weekday at 2:00 PM EST on Facebook Live (@LincolnCenterNYC).
American Museum of Natural History: American Museum of Natural History is offering many online resources to keep everyone learning. The museum is offering virtual tours, videos, games, talks and more. The best part? This isn’t just for families and children! They are offering exclusive educator materials, too!
Children’s Museum of Manhattan: Keep your children singing with all the interactive activities at CMOM. Visit their website for games, sing-a-longs, videos and more.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art: The Met is offering incredible online resources such as videos, articles, activities, catalogues and more. Grab the whole family and get ready to experience, learn and be inspired. There are lots of activities targeted to kids of all ages.
