JA New York–How long have you been designing jewelry?
Roman Drake for Santi Rom: I have been a jeweler for about 8 years first as a hobby and professionally for about 3 years.
JA New York–What inspires your designs?
RD: There are so many influences for my jewelry…architecture, ritualistic symbol, and the life and style of the Byzantine era.
JA New York–What are you most looking forward to about exhibiting in the New Designer Gallery?
RD: I’m most looking forward to meeting everyone, from other jewelers to buyers to anyone there to celebrate what we do.
JA New York–What are you most nervous about (if anything!)?
RD: What makes me most nervous is having everything I need and want for the show. Making sure I cross all my t’s and dot my i’s.
JA New York–If a song came on every time you came into a room, what would it be?
RD: Strangely, Bjorks “Come to Me” is playing in my head so maybe that lol. I’m a pretty nurturing but forceful person so I think maybe that fits.
JA New York–If you were forced to get a tattoo, what would it be and where?
RD: I once was vacationing in Spain and met someone who had the most incredible tattoo that looked like water colors on their body. Maybe something like that …just washes of color.
