The creations of designer Emily Kuvin are simple, elegant and original. Emily’s love of jewelry design began in high school, and she’s been designing and refining her skills and aesthetic ever since. A writer by trade, her celestial inspired collection gives her the ability to tell stories through 14k gold, diamonds and gemstones. A self-proclaimed “nerd” when Emily isn’t designing jewelry, you can often find her tending to her garden, or curled up with a good book!
JA New York: The first thing I ever designed was…
Emily Kuvin: I have been designing jewelry since I was in elementary school. In high school, I made necklaces, bracelets and earrings and grew to love the creative process — particularly working with different and unexpected color combinations. When I started my business several years ago, I began by mixing lustrous pearls with colored gemstones, and as I’ve evolved as a designer, I still pride myself on a striking use of color.

JA New York: I’m currently reading:
EK: I’m quite nerdy, and besides designing jewelry, curling up with a book is my absolute favorite thing to do. I just finished To Die But Once by Jacqueline Winspear and The Knowledge by Martha Grimes (I love a good English mystery) and all of Donna Leon’s Guido Brunetti mysteries (nothing wrong with an Italian mystery either!). I’m looking for a new series to sink my teeth into — I feel adrift when I’m between books!
JA New York: I’m currently listening to…
EK: I can’t really figure out how to work music these days (or more accurately, I don’t have the patience to ask my kids to show me repeatedly), so whatever is playing that someone else turned on. Sad, but true. My all time favorite band is Everything But the Girl.
JA New York: My trade show uniform is:
EK: A tank top, long jacket and pants with practical heels. And fabulous Emily Kuvin jewelry, of course!
JA New York: My greatest accomplishment so far is…
EK: My two kids.
