Brooklyn-based designer Susan Highsmith first discovered her love of jewelry when going through her aunt and grandma’s finds from their frequent trips to flea markets. Later, it was a friend who recognized Susan’s love of jewelry who encouraged her to take a jewelry class, and she found herself immediately drawn to the process of wax carving. Continually influenced by architecture (the older, the better!), a passion she gives her dad’s cousin, Richard Nickel, credit for, Susan’s pieces reflect the artist’s ongoing commitment to perfecting her craft.
