JA New York: How long have you been a jewelry designer?
Elisa Solomon: I created my first formal collection when I was a senior studying Jewelry and Metalsmithing at The University of Michigan in 2004. The collection was sold at Steven Alan and began my life as a jewelry designer!
JA New York: What inspires your designs?
ES: I am endlessly inspired by the 60s, Woodstock, and Native American culture.
JA New York: What are you most looking forward to about exhibiting in the New Designer Gallery?
ES: I can’t wait to meet people in the industry!
JA New York: What are you most nervous about (if anything!)?
ES: Nothing. I love talking about my collection and never feel nervous when it comes to sharing and representing my jewelry!
JA New York: If a song played every time you walked into a room, what would it be?
ES: One of my favorite songs is “Imagine” by John Lennon. I’m a dreamer and an optimist, so I’d say that’s a fitting song!
JA New York: If you were forced to get a tattoo, what would it be and where?
ES: It would be 2 tattoos actually! A tiny peace sign and a tiny daisy and I would have one drawn at the base of my left hand middle finger and the other drawn on my thumb. I have two little ink scars from art school in those places so the tattoos would be a nice way to beautify them!
