The owner of Maurice Badler Jewelry, Jeff Badler, doesn’t believe he’s selling jewelry, but rather, he’s assisting clients in finding what works best for them. Ideally located in New York City’s Park Avenue between 58th and 59th Streets, the store has a solid reputation for honesty and integrity, and Jeff’s level of enthusiasm is of the contagious variety! We caught up with Jeff to find out some of his other retail mantras, his favorite gemstones, and his dream celebrity client!
JA New York: Facebook or Instagram?
Jeff Badler: We use Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest at our company, but Facebook is the main focus. Each employee has their own Instagram account to post business related photos. They are free to apply their own creative spin and each attracts their own followers which expands our company’s reach.
JA New York: Favorite gemstone?
JB: I am a diamond guy. Particularly the beautiful proprietary diamond cuts we carry. Clients say my passion for them is infectious.
JA New York: What’s your retail mantra?
JB: I have a few:
- If you’re going to say something, say it with conviction and passion.
- Don’t ask a question if you’re not prepared for the answer.
- The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the joy of low price is forgotten.
- We don’t sell jewelry. We assist clients in finding what works best for them. Our clients are our friends, and we treat them accordingly.
- Please let us clean your jewelry. After all, if it doesn’t look its best, nobody will ask you where you got it.
JA New York: Dream celebrity client?
JB: We already have our dream client; we’ve been working with Stevie Wonder for many years.
JA New York: Music you play in your store?
JB: Two stations: Music of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s and of course Stevie Wonder.
JA New York: Music you play in your car/home?
JB: Carole King, Steely Dan and Crosby Stills and Nash.
JA New York: If you had a Super Power it would be…?
JB: Fly at lightning speed, so I could visit my sons wherever they are.
JA New York: Your most prized possession?
JB: My store. It is a major source of pride and I love being there.
