On Tuesday, April 28th, people in parts of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania were treated to an air demonstration when the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy performed a flyover of Thunderbirds and Blue Angels fighter jets. This sky-high tribute to the frontline COVID-19 responders and essential workers took place against a clear blue sky, and could be heard throughout all parts of New York City. Many caught a glimpse, while social distancing, either from their apartments or on city streets, resulting in over 56,000 #americastrong posts on Instagram marveling at the awe-inspiring spectacle.
According to a press release issued by the U.S. Navy, “The U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, and the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, will honor frontline COVID-19 responders and essential workers with formation flights over New York City, Newark, Trenton and Philadelphia April 28th.”
While none of us who remain in what has long been the epicenter of this global pandemic could ever accurately express our gratitude to the brave souls who are keeping us all safe and sane, the tribute was an accurate representation of the magnitude of our appreciation. #staysafe #newyorkstrong #americastrong
