It was so great seeing so many of you at the JA New York Summer Show last month! The show floor was bustling  with business, while The Big Pitch, a standing-room only JA Education Program, our Buyer Bucks giveaway and the Accessories’ Council Costume Designer Panel, established a palpable energy throughout the Javits Center.

This past Summer Show marked the 40th anniversary of the New Designer Gallery! Since 1977, when designer David Yurman launched with us, the New Designer Gallery has had a legacy of launching some of the biggest names in designer fine jewelry. Brands like Paul Morelli, George Swayer, Paula Crevoshay, Steven Kretchmer and Alex Sepkus all got their start in the New Designer Gallery, and we have been proud to carry on the tradition of finding and nurturing the talents of designers from across the globe within this distinguished area of our shows. A big congratulations to Lori Ann Friedman from Loriann Jewelry, who joined the ranks of recipients of the coveted Mort Abelson New Designer of the Year award.

The Javits Center wasn’t the only place buzzing during New York Jewelry Market Week. Women’s Jewelry Association gave us an opportunity to celebrate all of the outstanding women in our industry and honor this year’s Awards for Excellence winners, while the AGS Circle of Distinction dinner gave us the opportunity to commend three very deserving honorees, including our very own Myriam Gumuchian, owner of Gumuchian.
