In speaking with the many people who have remained in New York City throughout the COVID-19 crisis, there is a common lament for our beautiful city. Not only has the pandemic disproportionately impacted New York City, and our hearts are broken for those who have, and continue to suffer, so much of the fabric of our daily lives is no longer available to us.
Gone are the subways that get us (for the most part) quickly and efficiently to our destination, gone are the bustling restaurants, the outdoor cafes, the vibrant museums, the random, weird little shops. Crowds used to be an indication that something exciting or interesting or “happening” was taking place. Now, for most of us, just crossing paths with another masked person on the sidewalk is cause for concern. But the truth is, New York City and all that we love about it hasn’t gone anywhere….it’s just laying low for the time being, like the rest of us!
We loved discovering this series of “Virtual Walks” throughout New York City that the New York Times is releasing. We’re especially fond of this one highlighting the Brooklyn Bridge and the neighborhoods bookending this architectural wonder! A big thank you to New York Times for reminding us why we love, and always will love, New York!
