JA New York: How long have you been a jewelry designer?
Rebecca Fragola for Adriatic Jewelry: I started jewelry making and design in college about 8 years ago and I’ve officially been in business with Adriatic about 2 years now. I received my BFA in metalsmithing then went on to FIT to study jewelry design. Jewelry has definitely been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember and I love to expand my knowledge and skills. Designing and making jewelry has always been my dream job and its such an honor to be showing at JA this summer.
JA New York: What inspires your designs?
RF: I’m inspired by everything from architecture, ancient/antique jewelry, travel, music and more. My newest collection shares a lot of inspirations with my first fine jewelry collection which was minimalist with art deco elements. I like to use a lot of clean lines in 14k yellow gold with faceted all natural gemstones. I wanted to make the pieces architectural, statement making but still delicate and feminine.
JA New York: What are you most looking forward to about exhibiting in the New Designer Gallery?
RF: I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and getting to show my new line and some one-of-a-kind handmade pieces.Getting to show my work in person is a great opportunity. I design my pieces around the idea of them being super wearable, versatile and memorable in person. I’m also really happy to be working with Liz Kantner on this and being chosen amongst a group of great new designers.
JA New York: What are you most nervous about (if anything!)?
RF: The whole experience in general can be nerve wracking, so I try not to over think things. Keeping on task and organized takes a lot of the stress out of the process (also yoga). I’m looking forward to the experience and luckily my anticipation trumps my nerves.
JA New York: If you were forced to get a tattoo, what would it be and where?
RF: I already have a few, so no one would have to force me to get more. Not sure what I will get next, but it is addictive and I will definitely be getting more in the future.
