Designer Leeorah Betan-Harman of Lulu & Shay strives to create pieces that have an emotional connection for the wearer. Inspired by modern, clean lines, nature, history and symbolic elements of the past, her jewelry is both romantically inspired, and perfect for the contemporary woman on the go. We caught up with Leeorah to welcome her as one of the select designers in our New Designer Gallery and discovered that, with 4 kids aging in range from almost 2 to almost 10, Lshe describes her baseline as “hectic” however, she still appreciates a good brunch!
JA New York: The first thing I ever designed was…
Leeorah Betan-Hartman: A silver ring that included a really unique stone that I had bought years before when I traveled to Thailand with my now husband. I wanted to make something special with it, but I wasn’t able to in metal. Once I started wax carving I found it very freeing for my creative process and I was able to make a very organic style ring that fit perfectly with the stone. I cherish this ring now as it holds a double meaning being the stone as well as the first creation I made in wax carving.
