A passion for colored gemstones runs through the veins of the Kordvani family. The family’s colored stone journey began in 1969 with David Kordvani, who has spent the last 50 plus years traveling the world searching for the most unique and precious gems. David came to be known as a key figure in brining Zambian emeralds to the United States in the early 70’s, when he and his brothers, Abe and Johnny, earned the moniker “Kings of Emeralds.”
Jason and Adam Kordvani now lead DAVID KORD, a business named after their father. They take the responsibility of carrying on their father’s legacy seriously and understand each time they bring a stone to market they are putting their family name on the line. More interested in buying stones they love rather than buying stones they want to sell, they ensure that each of the stones they procure is carefully sourced and fairly priced. “Over the course of my career, I have seen many gemstone houses shift towards cutting diamonds or move into other parts of our industry, but I have never once considered changing our path as colored gemstones are in our blood,” Jason explains. “We consider it our duty to supply the world with gems we discover and to help each one of our clients find their color.
DAVID KORD’s vast selection of merchandise includes exquisite, classic silhouettes like cocktail rings, dramatic drop earrings, hoops and riviera necklaces. While they continue to specialize in emeralds, as well as the other most highly prized rubies and blue sapphires, they also work with opals, fire opals, tourmaline and a rainbow of sapphires. Their bold designs are not for the faint of heart, boasting breathtaking combinations of colors and shapes in a scale that appeals to serious collectors and enthusiasts.
