Lori Friedman, the designer behind Loriann Jewelry, doesn’t follow trends, she followers her passions. The painterly yet organic collection of pieces she creates recall the serenity and fluidity associated with the ocean and the inherent yet beautiful irregularities found in nature. Her work is a culmination of influences, including her own hobby of painting with watercolors as well as her love of all of her surroundings.

JA New York: How would you describe your brand to someone who is not familiar with it? Giuve us your “elevator pitch!” 

Lori Friedman: Loriann Jewelry is a unique brand of organic jewelry. Each piece is made with exclusively cut organic shaped stones to create one of a kind pieces. 

JA New York: Do you have a particular wearer in mind when you’re designing?

LF: My intention as a designer is to create pieces that reflect the more casual lifestyle of modern day women.

Organic elegance comes to mind when describing our latest collection. They are feel good pieces that defines a unique sense of style for women who are looking for something a little different.

JA New York: What is your biggest source of design inspiration?

LF: My biggest source of design inspiration is found in all that nature provides…from objects found in marine life to vibrant colors and textures that stem from plant life. 

JA New York: What’s one thing that always makes you smile?

LF: A smile itself. Whenever I see others smile it’s contagious. 

JA New York: If you could be a TV/Movie villain, who would you be and why?

LF: I’d want to be Valorie Perrine who played a villain in Superman. Although she was considered a villain she ended up saving Superman’s life. 

JA New York: Do you have a “special skill” that people don’t know about?

LF: Painting in watercolors is one of my favorite hobbies. It has influenced and inspired my latest collection of jewelry with a similar organic fluidity inherent in my paintings. 

JA New York: If you could spend one day in somebody else’s shoes, whom would it be and why?

LF: Hmm…. admiration comes to mind when thinking it through. My 103 year old grandmother would be my top pic. I’m inspired by her inner strength, hard work and determination to succeed at whatever she put her mind to. How many people have the chance to live to 103?….and knowing people dating back to the Civil War!
